“Campania Express” is the new tourist train between Sorrento and Naples, it stops only in Pompei Scavi Villa dei Misteri and Ercolano Scavi.
The service is available from May 23rd to October 15th, 2015. The muntilingual staff on board will provide information about the places to visit and the program of events “Travel in Campania. In the Footsteps of the Grand Tour.”
The train “Campania Express” is air-conditioned, with video surveillance and it has 144 seats, plus four for the disabled.

Massa Lubrense has achieved for the eight consecutive year the ‘Blue Flag’ award, a prestigious quality mark for coastal areas, granted by the no-profit organization FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) to promote and safeguard seashores.
In the classification of the Italian Regions, Campania has ranked in the fourth place, obtaining 14 ‘blue flags’, spread across the Gulf of Naples (Anacapri e Massa Lubrense) and Salerno (Ascea, Vibonati, Centola-Palinuro, Casal Velino, Agropoli, Montecorice, Sapri, Pisciotta, Pollica, Castellabate, Positano and Capaccio-Paestum).
Among the fundamental requirements, which have allowed to achieve this prestigious prize, there are the excellent quality of water, high efficiency in wastewater purification, infrastructure efficiency and the various services provided by bathing sites. Particular importance is also attached to the issue of the waste management system and the environmental initiatives promoted at local level.
There are twoprocessionsof the dead Christtaking place inMassa Lubrense on Good Friday: one in Massa centro and one in Torca.

The Jesuitsgavethe biggestimpetus to thepious practiceof the processionof the dead Christ, and yet, althoughthe city ofMassa Lubrense had a great and powerfulCollegeof that order, no sign, no descriptionof the marchseemsto have remained.

Cuomo, historian emeritusof ourlocal reality, we learn that“toward the 1910-12the Processionof the “Dead Christ“beganto beorganizedinMassa Lubrense(the statue was purchasedby the administrationof the ChurchCathedral), but theConfraternity of the Rosaryof the Annunciationused to participatewith its owndress,usedfor the funeralof the confreres(white coat, blackcapes, andwhite cap). Withthe passing of time,thisprocessionwentslowlydegrading; untilin 1971, whenthe traditionwasrenewed:withallblacksclothes, innovatingpathandfurnishings. “
Since 1995,the processionis no longerorganized by the parishformerCathedral ofSanta Maria delle Grazie, buttherebornConfraternityDeath and Prayer. Itstarts from theformerCathedraljust after sunset, by torchlight, in order andstrictsilence.
Confraternita San Filippo Neri – Torca

The wearof time(maybe even a littlecarelessness) suggested to replacethe statuewith anotherin wood, that the currentparish priest, DonMarioCafiero, realizedwith the contributionof the local people. Like all othersimilarrites, thisprocessionbeginsat dusk, but features itspeculiarities: it is opened by“Catholic children” of the parishwiththeir “pennant”, followedby the Associationsof Catholic Action (youth and women) andthenby the Confraternity,inblack habit. The brotherscarry in procession the‘torment‘ and ‘lamps‘.
The final partof the processionis made up ofa group ofboys whocarry on their shouldersthe“cross”, the statueof the Dead Christ(adorned withlightsand flowers), the musical band,a choirofchildren and young peopleand, finally,theveneratedstatue ofOur Lady of Sorrows(alsoadorned with flowersand lights), followed bya large group ofwomeninprayers.
This processionof the Confraternityof San FilippoNerihas notthe chorusof“Miserere”, butin its placehas thechildren’s choir, singingthe hymn “At Calvary“, in the same textof the Confraternityof the Crucifix ofMeta, whichso begins:

The procession reachestheneighboringhamlets of Pastenaand S.Agata, inwhichchurches, amongdevoutmasses ofcrowds, the priestplays anappropriatespeech, thenreturningtoTorcawhere, amongthegeneral commotion, the participantsand the peoplekissthe Madonna’s mantle and the statueof the Dead Christ, at the conclusionof theirpenitential riteandashopefor the feast ofEaster Sunday.
The association “Capri Outdoors” organizes the first Maratrail of Capri: a tour of the island on foot, through a circuit of 22 Km of 1000 meters in altitude.
The hike is not competitive and you can stop the route at will, or join in a halfway house.
